Su Myat Aung plays a senior role as Assistant General Manager at Sae Paing Development a major real estate and property development company with over 700 employees. She tells us how her career started on a very different path and of the part ABE played in her change of direction. Here's her story:
I was born and raised in Mandalay until I dived into career life in Yangon. My daddy was a retired government officer whilst my mom is fully supporting from the back. I graduated from the University of Foreign Languages Mandalay MUFL with Bachelor of Arts majoring in French. I am currently studying for an MBA from University of Northampton and pursuing a leadership development programme as a chosen Fellow 2019 of The DeBoer Foundation.
Since I was young, I’ve always dreamed of being a successful career woman. My career path from 16yrs old until today is quite diverse and varied. I earned my very first salary from teaching at a private international school. On the 2nd semester of my first year in UFL, I followed the path of catwalk & photo modelling as part-time career whilst at university. I achieved the milestones of winning the Titles of Pageant competitions.
After I graduated, I joined a domestic airline as Junior Flight Attendant until I became Cabin Crew In-Charge. Achieving the ABE Level 6 helped me realise being a flight attendant couldn’t drive me to my end goals. I changed my path and here I am today.
Having built up diverse experience in the real estate industry, I joined Sae Paing Development Limited as Assistant General Manager of Sales, Marketing and Leasing. I am also responsible for coordination with Myanmar Developers Association in respect of marketing and sales activities. Sae Paing Development Limited is one of the fastest growing real estate development companies in Myanmar, with a strength of over 700 employees, we are committed to creating and delivering a quality lifestyle for every family.
I found out about ABE was back in 2011. One of my colleagues initiated the topic of education, I heard the name “ABE” from her for the first time. Since I am a learning addict, I tried to understand more about how ABE works. The more I observed, the more I believed this was the right path to pursue my career dream. I enrolled at MHR Management Institute to start my learning journey with ABE.
Now, I have a job where I really enjoy helping people grow. Learning the different turning points of individual colleagues is beautiful. And the art of management is more than sophisticated. Meeting new people every day in different places, and hearing every different perspective, gives me strong motivation to learn more and achieve more. I will never want to stop learning.
My advice to those starting out or considering ABE studies is just do it. Nothing is unachievable and no dream is too big. Dream it, Aim for it and Achieve it. I achieved the Level 6 Diploma within 5 months. When I stated my desire to complete the qualification all at once, everybody was stopping me saying it's impossible. But I made my decision, aimed for it and I did achieve my targeted goal within my targeted timeframe. Cheers to all the great dreams to be accomplished!!
