Estate officer Siyaahath achieved her Top Paper Award whilst working full time and starting a family. She credits the support of her entire community from family to colleagues as well as her tutors for helping her stay strong. Talking about her classmates Siyaahath says, "I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to you all for being so supportive, motivating, and inspiring throughout my time at the college". What a great example of the ABE community #ABEway. Here's her story:
I have been working at the Housing Development Corporation Ltd, which is a 100% Maldivian state-owned enterprise, since 2015. As I wanted to enhance my career opportunities and knowledge, I joined the ABE programme which was practical, high quality and with a flexible learning opportunity while working full-time and while pregnant and later with a beautiful baby girl.
The ABE programme is a highly preferred qualification in the Maldives, particularly among working professionals and young workers who want to advance in their careers. The programmes are designed in such a way that is applicable to the real world.
MAPS College has my heartfelt gratitude for allowing me to study part-time with convenient and manageable class schedules. Both the academic and administrative staff were always kind, caring, and knowledgeable in their respective fields. All of my lecturers were qualified, thorough and always willing to go above and beyond.
The unconditional love and unwavering support from my husband, parents, in-laws, family, and especially my sister helped me navigate towards the goal. Without them, I couldn’t have concentrated on my studies nor work, for I was content that my daughter was in safe hands. And the support and encouragement I received from my superiors and co-workers helped me juggle my work-life balance. I am grateful and thankful for each and every one for their support and words of encouragement because they helped me be strong.
The memories with my fellow classmates, of sharing knowledge, resources, and study materials, as well as assisting and pushing each other even at the last minute shall be treasured forever. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to you all for being so supportive, motivating, and inspiring throughout my time at the college.
