Here's Sanjeevika's story
"Maybe this is the first time you are hearing that an ABE-UK centre head is also a current ABE student. Here is the reason for it.
In 2019 I checked whether I could apply for the ABE-UK membership with my MBA + working experience but was told it is compulsory to have the Level 5 or 6 qualification. With Covid pandemic, I had a little break to review my personal development plan and realised, after 2011, I hadn’t updated my qualifications having been so busy with work. At the same time, ABE introduced the open-book exam method. As a result, I was motivated to start the qualification. I then decided to set the target to achieve ABE Level 6 qualification in the HR stream with a few Distinctions and at least one Top Paper Award. I understood this would become a plus point for me to promote ABE qualifications in Sri Lanka, by becoming an ABE qualified Centre Head, if I am recommending ABE qualifications to my prospective students, it will add more weight to convince them.
I informed all our students that I would submit all six assessments for Nov 2020 exam session with them, even though I have a very busy working schedule, and this motivated them to do the maximum number of assessments themselves, rather than giving excuses to postpone exams. They were very excited about it and most of the Level 6 students booked a minimum of four assessments and some booked all six assessments as well. It was not easy to do all six at once with my busy schedule but I didn’t give up my target and I received one distinction four merits and one pass grade. Now I am delighted that I have received this Top Paper Award. I am sure that I can motivate my students to achieve good results in the future, setting my achievements as an example in IUHS Campus History.
Furthermore, while doing my assessments, I enjoyed the research work, and I felt that I'm refreshing my knowledge with the latest industry updates. I set a new target again, I'm not going to stop at the Level 6 HR stream. I have decided to do all three qualifications and become an ABE-UK triple qualified achiever. Then I can motivate my Level 6 students to also go for dual qualifications. One Business Management student already started to achieve his Marketing stream qualification and a couple of students are waiting for their May 2021 exam results to start their second qualification. I am really happy that I motivated my students to achieve more, setting examples by myself. I submitted my Marketing stream assessments for May 2021 exam and I'm planning to do the Business Management steam in November 2021. I trust I will able to achieve my set targets by the end of the year.
For the Top Paper Award, my Business Strategy and Decision-making, lecturer Mr. Parakrama Subasinghe's online lectures and lecture notes helped me to achieve this award. I thank him and all my excellent IUHS Campus module lecturers. Also, my IUHS staff have given me excellent support, especially balancing my workload during the exam period. I am very proud that I became an ABE qualified graduate and will continuously support promoting ABE qualifications in Sri Lanka, working with ABE Manager, Praveen, and delivering high-quality education to ABE students by inspiring them to achieve the best results."
