Neran chose ABE to help him achieve his ambition to become an entrepreneur. True to the ABE way, once his business is up and running, he plans to give back by becoming a mentor to other young, up-and-coming, entrepreneurs #ABEway. He says, "I have chosen to study ABE because I love business". Here's his story:
"I am from an area called Lusignan Grassfield which is located on the coastal plain of Guyana. I have grown up there, I wrote my Grade Six assessment otherwise known as common entrance, I graduated with 10 CSEC subjects and now I am pursuing my tertiary education. My family is small but I am blessed to have parents that are very loving and who will always support me in life. They have helped me achieve a lot of things, taught me how to be the good person I am today and I will be forever grateful to them.
Business was and always will be my strong suit. After primary school, I attended a private business school for my secondary education. After I graduated I would help out at my parent’s small business which has been in existence for the past twenty years, during the time helping I familiarised myself with how a business is managed efficiently. As the years went by my interest leaned more into the business field. I have chosen to study ABE because I love business.
I study my course in Guyana but with the very unfortunate circumstance of COVID-19, I have only done my classes online through Accountancy Training Centre (ATC). We are thoroughly guided through our study guides and lectures to better understand the concept and syllabus of a course.
ABE is widely accepted by employers because the courses are very much related to any business working environment and more schools are recommending this course of study. More people are applying to do ABE courses because of the reviews and recommendations of previous students.
My immediate plan, after achieving an ABE qualification, is to open a business of my own. I want to become an entrepreneur and be my own boss. In the future, I would also like to mentor other young and upcoming entrepreneurs on how to open and manage a business.
I have friends that are pursuing other courses in the business field but some are intertwined with stuff that is not related to the course they are doing. The best thing about studying ABE is that it is very straightforward and very much related to the business field, students are provided with their study guides and other study materials to help them through the courses.
Since I started studying ABE, I have grown as a business student, it has helped me understand key areas in businesses. ABE has taught me how to carry myself professionally and mainly how to sell myself as a business person looking for a job and help my parents with their business.
When it comes to studying, many people may feel that they don’t have the capability to acquire academic goals. It is all about the person's mindset, if they set a goal and strive to achieve it consistently it will be acquired. When studying try to get a study partner, as it will help you to remember things more easily because you have someone quizzing you on your work. Read a lot, it may be boring, but it helps you as a student.
My long-term career plan is to complete all the ABE courses all the way to level 6 so that I have the skills required to be a successful entrepreneur."
