Here is Aadil's story:
"I am from Mauritius; I belong to a nuclear family and middle-class family. There are two members in my family including me. I have one senior sibling. My father is doing a private job, and my mother is a homemaker. My brother is working. I started my vocation in a small shop at the beginning of 2002, I have been in that position as a shopkeeper at SUNLIGHT for over 10 years now. This invaluable experience has given me a strong background in management and a proven track record of implementing successful strategies to improve operational efficiency.
SUNLIGHT started out as a small shop in 1974. SUNLIGHT was founded by my grandfather Mr. Moossa Nauzeer. Since, then, it has grown through generations until now it’s his son Mr. Khareed-Loollah Nauzeer accompanied by his wife Mrs. Hawa Bibi Nauzeer (Born UMARKHAN). As a shopkeeper, I am responsible for maintaining the overall image of the shop. SUNLIGHT targets specific age people who are between the ages of 14 to 40 years old but does not disregard people between 40 to 65 years old. It is my duty to sensibly display the merchandise so that it immediately catches the attention of the customers.
I started my career with LA PAIX shop, working as a junior member of their management team. I worked there for 2 years. Then, I switched to a brand-new startup, working as a junior shopkeeper. There, I gathered most of my experience and knowledge by working as a 2nd in command.”
In 2018, I saw an advertisement on social media. I seized the opportunity to attend ABE with their fantastic syllabus propose. I truly believe you offer the best programme for management. I believe the ability to work at my shop has helped me achieve my goal of becoming a shopkeeper. I got promoted to Senior Shopkeeper through my ABE diploma.
Not to mention it is recognised globally. The ABE qualifications have contributed to my progression as Level 6 allows me to expand my current knowledge whilst learning completely new skills and gaining more experience.
I am a dedicated, efficient, and hard-working employer who not only loves being at work but also gets great job satisfaction from achieving difficult targets and tasks.
My job can be exhausting and leave you seriously stressed. You have inventories to organise. But, when it comes down to it, you love it. There are some perks to being a shopkeeper. This reminds me of my favourite phrase ‟Each day is different’’. In the space of just a few hours, a couple of customers might overshare about their personal lives. It has helped me to develop good time management.
It is very important to your mental health and performance that you feel on top of the situation at all times. This can only be achieved if you are highly organised. Keep and constantly update a calendar, make a to-do list, or simply have a journal where you can write down your tasks, homework, and plans. Because you will have dozens of different assignments to do.
So, bear these words in mind and be brave. You will always have my support. Be sure about that.’’
